Two small words, yet such a powerful measure of teachers everywhere. In your opinion, what do you feel are the main strategies for effective classroom management?
A teacher cannot manage a room full of children unless she has an excellent rapport with them. I'd say that developing a good relationship with your students is the key to calming the seas in the classroom. The students have to trust you, and you have to know them in order to have things work in your favor.
I agree with you about rapport. With that, I think mutual trust and respect is instrumental as well. The more you can get to know each individual student, the better control you will have in your classroom- without yelling at all!
This is Josh Hunter, from EDN 513. I found this article from Edutopia that reflects my sentiments on classroom management. I shared it with my co-workers on my website: http://duplinschools.net/education/components/scrapbook/default.php?sectiondetailid=18267&.
