Goals

76% of students in NC think it is important to set high goals and 79% say they work hard to reach their goals. How do you help students achieve their goals? How often do you set goals? How often do you achieve them?

  1. So, no one wants to talk about goals, huh? We all set goals in our own lives, right? We have been reading the research to support having a clear and detailed goal or direction before trying to implement change. How do we show this in our classrooms? Personally, I have(or have had) students set goals related to deadlines in journalism, rebound stats, etc. for basketball, and scores on AP exams. I find that when students have goals that they set, they are much more liely to achieve or exceed that expectation. The best part is that the students often have higher expectations and set hire goals initially than what I would have if I was doing it for them. Just some food for thought- I would love to hear what you guys think.
